Childbirth & Parenting Classes

We offer individual or group classes.

Individual classes: These classes can be given in the comfort of your own home or at my office in Gainesville depending upon location and schedule.
Time: 4 hours
Cost: $125 in your home and $100 at my office

Group classes: These will be held at my office in Gainesville.
Time: 2 evenings for 3 hours each evening or on Saturdays for 4 hours
Cost: $100

Every pregnancy, labor and delivery is going to be different. This is why we feel childbirth classes are so important. First time parents usually enjoy meeting with other couples so we suggest group classes for them. It is a great way to meet other people who are going through some of the same things you are.

If this is not your first child you might just want to refresh your knowledge of labor or if this is your first home birth it is nice to know what to expect, how will it be different from your hospital birth. Some moms need some help processing their previous births. We can work with you individually, in groups or recommend you to a professional counselor.

While being prepared for your birth is extremely important, we do not want to forget the postpartum period. You have had your baby and now what! What is normal, what is not? A large part of our postpartum care is helping you to know your child and to learn to trust your instincts. The two of you have been developing a relationship for the past nine months, it is now time to deal with your baby as a separate human being. We want to help you establish a warm loving relationship with your child, which is not always easy when you are exhausted, sleep deprived and wondering what this person wants who doesn't know how to speak. Are they hungry, wet, tired or just plain cranky. It is a beautiful but unsure time in both of your lives. There are many adjustments to be made. Are you reading the signals right? How do you differentiate between their different cries?
