Attachment Parenting
I always love when I meet new people and when I learn new things. Today I meet with a really neat lady who is involved with the Attachment parenting group here in Gainesville. I had heard the phrase and googled it but didn't really know what they were about. She explained it and it made sense. After talking with her I realized that I did alot of that with my kids, we just didn't have a name for it 20 years ago. If I had the support system that this lady has I probably would have done more.
This woman has four beautiful children. She gave birth to them in her home. Their birth weights range from 8 pounds to 11 pounds. She is one strong mother. She is also homeschooling her children. I always admire and respect people who do that. Again I wish I had known more about it when my kids were little. It just wasn't done then or at least it wasn't as main stream and wide spread as it is today.
In my day of raising children it was all about having a career and doing it all. I'm glad to see that women and families are realizing the value of moms being home with their children. People always asked me what I did (in what kind of job or career do you have). I always wanted to have a pat answer - because otherwise it would take way too long to tell them about all my jobs - Chef, housekeeper, laundry attendant, childcare worker, chief financial officer, scheduler, etc, etc, etc (and this doesn't include the volunteer work I did outside the home). You get my drift. Have a wonderful day and stop and smell the roses. They grow up way too fast.
